Health Industry Expands In Leagues & Bounds . . .

We use well known phrases and band them about constantly.  In the dizzingly huge and quite powerful world of ‘health’ this has never been truer.  There are health food shops dishing out all kinds of supplements and ‘life enhancers’ and of course on the most public video platforms there are literally thousands of good healthy influencers.  I personally try to avoid getting sucked into this world of ‘must have – see the latest idea’ ethos.   I have however been influenced by a close relative who has managed to turn herself from a rather heavyweight dumpling into a seriously fit and uber healthy adult.  This has been through some research but also an inherent knowledge from doing a lot of sports activities when younger – that scoffing everything that tastes sweet and cake like is probably not going to make for the longer life sought.

Before the second world war there was a tremendously strong movement to get women into the fittest condition for life and everything it can throw at us.  The womens’ league of health & beauty was formed by one of the top aristocratic women in the country.  There are pathe news reels illustrating thousands of lithe young women doing the exercises we used to engage in at school in P.E., physical exercise.   Looking at the screen, it’s almost worrying to see the almost fanatical military uniformity about them.  But there is no doubt that the exercise regimes would help everyone in the world to regain their own health standards of youth!
